About the Presenter: Mr. Openshaw has trained and led Lean and Six Sigma transformations around the globe, including extensive work in Europe and Asia deploying Lean Six Sigma. With over 40 years of practical hands-on industry experience, Mr. Openshaw has spent the last 23 years directly involved in the quality improvement movement. Beginning in 1989 as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer at AlliedSignal Aerospace he taught TQM while working in the defense/commercial aircraft/satellite industry. He further honed his teaching abilities at Brigham Young University Idaho as an adjunct instructor for the College of Engineering teaching advanced manufacturing and processes.

The HCD developed the “Marshall Plan” to show what can and will be done when process improvement and quality management professionals are given the chance to prove themselves and their worth as important members of the health care team. Several of those involved in this successful effort have collaborated on the article referred to above to describe the project and what they accomplished in one California hospital.
