Performance Improvement

Abstract The implementation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), enabling electronic management of health insurance information, is highly dependent on reliable software. The Act’s requirement of administrative simplification covers privacy, security, and standardization. Both quality professionals and software providers working with health care organizations can expect to be involved in technical and operational issues. For developing a HIPAA compliant system from planning and testing through certification and rollout, the use of a process management process tool is recommended.
