Title Automating and Integrating Training
Author(s) Roger Crist
Topic Workforce Development, Education, and Training
Abstract Maintaining proper records of education and training is a common weakness encountered when auditing quality management systems. The complexity of maintaining these records with paper-based and hybrid systems is discussed. Examples presented illustrate that automated training processes offer integration of the control of documents and the control of resulting training. Additionally, companies find it difficult to verify the effectiveness of training efforts, making gap analysis reporting a critical capability. Most training is due to changes to documents, such as procedures and work instructions that directly affect product quality and require employees to be retrained. It is shown that companies can integrate document control and training activities using electronic routing and approval of documents that trigger electronic training and verification.
