Abstract The authors analyze empirically the influence of physical and work environmental factors on nurses’ perceptions of hospital service quality and nurses’ commitment to the hospital. The authors’ findings indicate that work environment and physical quality both positively influence nurses’ perceptions of nurse commitment and hospital service. The effect was more pronounced for nurses moving to the facility from another than for those working at the facility as it improved physical and work environment factors.
