Performance Improvement

Abstract This study explores the relationship between core values adoption and safety in American hospitals. It found that while certain core values are easier for hospitals to adopt if others are already in place, hospitals should focus on those values which are within their capabilities to adopt. It is therefore vital that hospital executives accurately assess their hospitals’ capabilities. Core value adoption was found to be a key factor in improving hospital safety.
