Abstract One organization used online survey tools to collect process data for quality management purposes with limited resources. A self-administered survey was delivered to seven quality professionals to review adherence to software quality management systems and the software development lifecycle. The survey employed skip-logic, allowing it to be delivered to the same personnel at different stages in the development process and checking answers against earlier responses. The quality manager formulated the questions and had them reviewed by subject-matter experts for relevance and wording. When designing a survey for process data collection, preparation and ease of use are important. A properly designed survey can be easily administered by one person, keeping quality management costs down.
