M.M. “MICKEY” CHRISTENSEN, MSME, ‘P.E. Retired’

“MICKEY” is President of TQM Systems in Baton Rouge, LA USA.  TQM Systems consults, trains, and audits for clients pursuing  quality/environmental management system implementation and system maintenance. He is also VP of Diversified Management Systems of Clarksville, GA.

Mickey has trained and consulted with many different types of organizations (metal working, oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, service industries and especially healthcare) to assist them in achieving certification to ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001. He was the prime consultant for getting the first, and other acute care hospitals (one hospital system that was the largest as of Dec. 2005) in North America certified to ISO 9001. He also assisted another small rural hospital along with the four private practice physicians’ offices, who supply patients to the hospital, to achieve certification to ISO 9001 all at the same time.

Mickey is a registered QMS Lead Auditor with the RABQSA and Principal auditor with the IRCA (International Register of Certified Auditors) in London.

He chaired the committee that developed the Louisiana State Quality Award and served as charter president of the Louisiana Quality Foundation, which administers the State award.  He is a Fellow member of ASQ and the past chair for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Healthcare Division. He was a co-developer of the first ISO International Workshop Agreement (IWA) document. The IWA-1 is a guidance document based on ISO 9004:2000 for use in healthcare.  He co-authored the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Business Operating Systems (BOS) for healthcare organizations document based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Healthcare Criteria with ISO 9001 and IWA-1 text inserted.

He has been a speaker at many conferences, some international and some national.  He was a member of the planning committee for the 2012 International ISO 9000 conference and chaired that conference in 2013. He is a member of the committee again this year and is pushing for speakers on healthcare accreditation/certification.
